Department Chairperson for science – This includes coordinating discussion between department and administration in areas such as the sharing of administrative needs, goals, and priorities to teachers and vice versa. Collaboration with other departments to enhance school-wide programs, and providing guidance on standards based curriculum and lesson planning.
Project LIVE (Learning through Instructional Video in Education) participant – Trained and supported with equipment to foster student collaboration and critical thinking through learning experiences in movie making. Students are taught how to work as a team to plan a project, film and then edit their movies.
Middle School Teacher Website Trainer - Observing a need throughout the school site for more electronic teacher communication with parents and students, I designed a middle school teacher web site template that could be personalized by any teacher for their classroom communication. Created print based materials to support teachers as they use the web site and also provided a training class for teachers on creating their own website. Awarded Teacher of the Year in 2009 in recognition of this work.
